Since its establishment in 1983, the SM Foundation, Inc. (SMFI) has aimed to provide opportunities to underserved communities to help them and their families lead improved lives.

Almost four decades in, it continues to strive by accompanying its goals with effective communication strategies to spread social good and encourage various like-minded organizations across the Philippines to collaborate towards fulfilling its mission.

While spreading the message of social good, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines and the Stevie® Awards—two renowned award-giving bodies in the industry—recognized the communication efforts of SMFI.

At the 19th Philippine Quill Awards of IABC Philippines, SMFI received three Merit awards for its exemplary communication strategies and efforts under the Social Media, Writing, and Corporate Social Responsibility categories.

SMFI was also accorded a Silver Stevie® Award in the Innovation in Community Relations or Public Service Communications category at the ninth annual Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards,

SMFI executive director Debbie P. Sy expressed her gratitude for the awards: “Thank you, IABC Philippines and Asia-Pacific Stevies for recognizing our social development efforts. At SMFI, we believe that corporate social responsibility paired with development communications would certainly go a long way. Aside from communicating our social good stories to the public, we also hope to spark kindness in the hearts of other individuals and organizations – moving them to also spread social good in their respective communities.”

“These recognitions do not only celebrate the work that we do, but more importantly, it inspires us to strive harder in spreading social good and make a positive impact on the lives of Filipinos,” Sy added.

The Philippine Quill is the country’s most prestigious awards program in the field of business communication. It has been bestowing the seal of approval to the most reputable organizations and corporations in the nation for almost two decades, emphasizing excellent communication to achieve business goals and make a difference in society.

On the other hand, The Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards are the only business awards program to recognize innovation in the workplace in all 29 nations of the Asia-Pacific region. The Stevie Awards are widely considered the world’s premier business awards, conferring recognition for achievement in programs such as The International Business Awards® for 20 years.

SM Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm of the SM group that intends to improve the quality of life of Filipinos through its Social Good programs focused on education, health and wellness, sustainable agriculture, and disaster response.
