This Christmas, UNICEF Philippines’ Goodwill Ambassador, Gary Valenciano, and National Artist for Music, Ryan Cayabyab, are coming together to invite everyone to help more children by donating to the UNICEF Basket of Hope.

To show his support for the campaign, Cayabyab gave permission to use excerpts of the Christmas song “Paskong Walang Hanggan” co-written with Jose Javier Reyes for the Basket of Hope video ad.

“My dream for Filipino children is exactly what this campaign stands for, hope. Everyone needs hope, especially in these times. It’s going to be a very different Christmas for all of us, more so for our children. I’m happy to share this song with UNICEF and work with Gary and the team to encourage others to help disadvantaged children through the Basket of Hope campaign,” Cayabyab shares.

With the holiday season here, the Basket of Hope video ad with the two OPM icons is a celebration of how great things can happen when everyone comes together for a cause – helping children and families in need.

UNICEF is calling for more support as it continues to respond to multiple emergencies, including the ongoing COVID-19 response in education, health and nutrition, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), child protection, and disaster resilience programs.

A PHP 700 donation is a basket for immunization, which can help protect Filipino children from preventable diseases by supporting improved access to vaccines, especially in remote and emergency areas. A PHP 1,500 donation is a basket for emergencies, which can help disaster affected children and families by providing water purification kits and hygiene kits with basic essentials. And a PHP 3,000 donation is a basket for education, which can help provide one early learning kit complete with storybooks, art materials, and toys for children to use in play and home-based learning activities.thr“My wish is for all Filipino children to get the education they truly deserve. By pitching in to the UNICEF Basket of Hope, everyone can donate to give children the support they need, whether it’s in immunization, emergencies, or education, in these difficult times,” Valenciano says.

This holiday season, choose the UNICEF Basket of Hope as an early Christmas gift to Filipino children in need. Once the donation is made, one can pass the Basket of Hope around by inviting family and friends to donate as well or donate in lieu of physical gifts to loved ones. Companies and organizations can also give to the UNICEF Basket of Hope as their charitable donation for the Christmas season.
