Two major roads worth P135 million, connecting Kabankalan City with two neighboring municipalities in southern Negros Occidental, provide a better travel experience with a bigger and safer traffic capacity.

A report from the Department of Public Works and Highways on Thursday showed these completed projects include the PHP67.5 million road connecting Kabankalan City and Cauayan town and another project, which also costs PHP67.5 million, along the Kabankalan City to Ilog section.

“These road improvements aim to ensure better mobility and convenient transport of goods and services. It will also minimize the wear and tear of vehicles, significantly benefiting vehicle owners and operators,” DPWH Western Visayas Regional Director Sanny Boy Oropel said in a statement.

The two road projects are part of the Bacolod South Road, Kabankalan-Hinobaan section, implemented by the DPWH-Negros Occidental Third District Engineering Office.

The first, which connects Kabankalan City and Cauayan town, spans a 2.357-kilometer service road divided into two sections, particularly in Barangay Dancalan in Ilog and Barangay Linaon in Cauayan.

It also involves the reconstruction of a two-lane inner road at Section 1 and the widening of a 314-meter road at Section 2, with installed safety devices to reduce road accidents and improve travel experience at night.

The other project along the Kabankalan City to Ilog section includes the improvement of the four-lane road with the reconstruction of the carriageway with upgraded thickness as well as the provision of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings and installation of illuminated solar pavement-leveled marker studs for a smoother and more convenient travel experience.
