Similar to Robredo’s take on the presidency, Cynthia Villar also believes that the running for presidency is a matter of destiny. She said she will not run unless God will give it to her ‘on a silver platter.’ She said she will not exert any effort to be president.
A stalwart of the Nacionalista Party and with a net worth of P3.6 billion in 2016, Villar recently won her second term as senator with her campaign centered on poverty alleviation. In her previous term as senator, she authored bills to fight cartels that increase prices of agricultural products.
She is wife to former Sen. Manny Villar who was a presidential hopeful in the 2010 general elections but lost to Noynoy Aquino. In February, Duterte expressed his support to Manny if he decides to take another shot at the presidency.
