The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) repatriated on Wednesday 350 more distressed and undocumented overseas Filipino workers from Dubai, marking its third special chartered flight this month from the United Arab Emirates.

The agency is eyeing more flights, with the fourth one scheduled July 30.

“We are mounting more flights in the coming weeks to bring home as many distressed Filipinos from the UAE the soonest,” DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola said.

The repatriation follows the pronouncement of Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. that the DFA will use its resources to “bring them all home”.

In line with the instructions of President Rodrigo Duterte and as recommended by Locsin, the agency said all repatriates received USD200 as reintegration assistance.

The recent arrivals bring the total repatriated Filipinos from the Gulf state via DFA chartered flights to 3,350 since the start of the pandemic in March last year.

The 350 repatriates underwent the appropriate medical protocols upon arrival as required by the Department of Health and will undergo quarantine procedures. (PNA)
