The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) has endorsed to the provincial government of Antique the membership data records (MDRs) of 2,671 persons with disability (PWDs) that will assure them of health insurance coverage as mandated under the Universal Healthcare Act.

PHIC provincial head Junie Sabusap, in his message during the turnover on Wednesday, said these PWDs have been provided with their MDRs out of the province’s 7,570 PWDs registered with the Philippine Registry (PR)-PWD.

“We have endorsed 2,671 MDRs to the Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) under which is the Provincial Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) so they could distribute the MDRs to the PWDs,” he said.

The names of those with available MDRs have matched with the database of the PHIC while the remaining 4,899 are still subject to further validation.

Ruben Balbuena, Antique Association of PWDs president, said they would assist in the distribution of the MDRs through their municipal focal persons in the 18 municipalities.

“We will be releasing the MDRs to the focal persons within the week,” he said during the turn-over simultaneous with the meeting of the Provincial Council for Disability Affairs meeting. (PNA)
