Filipina junior figure skater Hayden Isabel Balucating ruled the junior women’s division of the 2023 Los Angeles Open Championships, getting a gold distinction.

With a total score of 108.47 points, Balucating was able to get 44.32 points in the Short Program, landing second, and 64.15 points in the Free Skate, landing third, leading to her overall victory.

Held last July 14 and 16 at Pickwick Ice in Burbank, California, Balucating competed against junior figure skaters based in the United States at the 2023 LA Open Championships.

Following her notable achievement, Balucating expressed gratitude to the people who supported her during the competition, which gave her the courage to ace her performance.

“My heart is full of gratitude for all the people who guide me in this journey. […] We’re off to a great start,” Balucating said.

A student-athlete and four-time national medalist, Balucating competed in national and international figure skating competitions, such as the Philippine National Figure Skating Championships in 2022, where she took home the silver medal.
