The Philippines will seek improvements in the employment conditions and welfare of Filipino workers in Israel when Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Chief Patricia Yvonne Caunan visit the country in November.

Cacdac said the planned visit would allow Philippine officials to meet Filipino workers, hear their concerns and discuss ways to strengthen bilateral labor cooperation, including assistance for those affected by the tensions in Israel.

“There are things to talk about by way of finding ways in which we could enhance, first and foremost, the current employment of the Filipinos who are there,” Cacdac said during a press briefing and commemoration program on Tuesday.

The visit comes as the DMW and OWWA continue to provide welfare and psychosocial support to Filipinos in Israel, including mental wellness programs, counseling, referrals to professional mental health services and regular visits to Filipino communities.

The planned visit will provide Cacdac and Caunan an opportunity to hear directly from Filipino workers about their working conditions and welfare concerns, as both governments continue efforts to maintain labor cooperation amid the security situation in Israel.

Cacdac underscored the importance of continuous coordination with Israeli counterparts to effectively address the actual concerns of Filipino workers and ensure that their employment and welfare needs receive attention. (PNA)
