The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) turned over Wednesday five units of brand-new patrol cars worth PHP12.5 million to the Police Regional Office (PRO) to strengthen law enforcement operations across the region.

The police cars were procured by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG-BARMM), headed by Minister Naguib Sinarimbo, and formed part of the logistical assistance of the regional government to PRO-BARMM.

The MILG also built several municipal police station buildings in the region, while funding the construction of a new administration building inside the PRO-BARMM headquarters in Camp S.K, Pendatun, Parang, Maguindanao.

“The turnover is also a manifestation of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim’s strong commitment to supporting the police, as he pointed out that stable peace and security will lead to a more sustainable development,” Sinarimbo, a lawyer, said.

Based on the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between Sinarimbo and PRO-BARMM Director Brig. Gen. John G. Guyguyon, three of the patrol cars will go to the PRO- BARMM, and one each for the police’s 1404th Regional Mobile Force Company and Cotabato City Police Office.

The MOA stated that the patrol cars shall be used by the PRO-BARMM in their law enforcement operations, which is in line with the MILG’s function to implement plans, programs, and projects to promote public order and safety and disaster preparedness. (PNA)
