The Bataan Police Provincial Office (PPO) here on Thursday said it has started its five-day handgun proficiency training at the Mt. Samat firing range in Barangay Diwa in Pilar town.

Col. Romell Velasco, Bataan police director, led the opening ceremony of the simultaneous modified handgun marksmanship training on Wednesday under Phases I, II and III facilitated by the Human Resource and Doctrine Development Branch of the Bataan PPO.

Velasco said the training will serve as the regular firearms proficiency training program for the uniformed personnel of the Bataan PPO.

“This will be five days of handgun proficiency training which aims to standardize, develop, increase, and sustain the level of confidence and proficiency of all Bataan Police Provincial Office uniformed personnel in the use of issued short firearms and to enhance the individual skills on shooting and defense tactics of PNP personnel,” he said in a social media post on Thursday.

The training is simultaneously being conducted in other areas of Central Luzon under the jurisdiction of Brig. Gen. Cesar R. Pasiwen, regional director of the Police Regional Office 3. (PNA)
