The Antique Provincial Development Council (PDC) has approved a resolution endorsing the development of the Sira-an Hot Spring in the municipality of Anini-y at the cost of PHP100 million.

Bienvenido Nallos Jr., Antique Provincial Planning and Development coordinator, said in an interview on Thursday that he presided the PDC 1st Quarter Meeting on behalf of Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao on Wednesday.

He said the municipality of Anini-y has requested the endorsement of the PDC to the Regional Development Council Western Visayas so it could be funded.

“Right after Antique Governor Cadiao signs the resolution for the endorsement of the Sira-an Hot Spring, we will immediately forward it to the RDC so it could be included on its list of priority projects for funding by the Department of Tourism –Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (DOT-TIEZA),” he said.

Nallos said the Sira-an Hot Spring is one of the popular tourists destinations in the province, but its facilities such as accommodation rooms, cottages, venues and swimming pool are already dilapidated and need to be renovated.

“We need to develop the facilities for the safety of the tourists,” he said.

He further said the development of the facilities at the Sira-an Hot Spring, which faces the sea, could further boost the tourist arrivals in the destination as it is believed to have therapeutic free-flowing water.

Nallos also said he hoped the development of the facilities at the Sira-an Hot Spring could be funded within the year. (PNA)
