The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Negros Oriental Field Office released on Thursday more than PHP1.75 million in cash-for-work assistance to 351 beneficiaries from Tayasan town.

A ceremonial payout for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries was held at the Robinsons Place shopping mall here as part of the Independence Day job fair.

Raizza Phoebe Rubia, DOLE-Negros Oriental information officer, said the beneficiaries were set to receive PHP5,010 each for a 10-day work program.

Services rendered included sweeping of streets, cleaning of canals, and planting of trees, as determined by the barangay, Rubia said.

“Of the total number of TUPAD beneficiaries, only 10 came to the job fair for the ceremonial payout while the rest of them will have another activity at the Tayasan public market in the afternoon,” she added.

Codes were released to them, and they can claim their salaries from Palawan Express Pera Padala. (PNA)
