Filipino medical workers receive a shout out from English Journalist and TV Personality Piers Morgan.

In a morning show called Good Morning Britain, Morgan expressed his appreciation towards the Filipino medical frontliners who work tirelessly for the National Health Service (NHS), a publicly funded healthcare system in United Kingdom (UK), amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s worth bearing in mind when we talk about immigrants in this country, these are the immigrants currently saving people’s lives. Coming here and actually enriching our country and doing an amazing job,” he said

Acknowledging the health workers, he added, “So thank you to all the Filipinos who are here doing all this amazing work and to every other working in the NHS currently. I hope at the end of this, we’ll have a, perhaps a different sentiment, a different feeling about what immigration has done for this country.”

According to the TV host, a Filipino nurse is assigned in the same hospital where Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who tested positive for the infectious disease, is admitted.

“Amazing number of Filipinos working at NHS and unsung heroes,” the journalist commended.

As of April 8, the World Health Organization (WHO). has reported 51,612 COVID-19 cases in the UK including 5,373 fatalities.
