Local modern public utility vehicles (PUV) manufacturer Francisco Motors slammed the statement of Move As One Coalition accusing them that the transportation may increase the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

“Elmer Francisco Industries (EFI) have 10 vehicles in our group for the free DOTr transportation since March including 2 units from Durabilt Motors, 2 units 60-seater buses from Raymond Transportation, 2 units from Isuzu Inteco along with our new Francisco Jeepneys,” said the statement.

Since the beginning of the quarantine, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has been active in providing free service for the health workers through the Free Bus Service for Health Workers Program. There has been no recorded cases ever since despite battling the virus upfront. This is because of the strict health and safety measures regulated to the drivers.

According to Francisco Motors, they also gave a checklist that drivers should accomplish. Those who will fail to complete it shall face suspension.

“What worsens virus transmission are incompetence of vehicle personnel, complacency of those in-charge of the vehicles and negligence of passengers. That is in no way a fault of the vehicles,” the statement read.

In addition, Francisco Motors said that there is a free app named “EFI Wallet” that has a contact tracing feature. This is available for use to everyone and can be useful to transport cooperatives and corporations.
