Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) President and Executive Director Rina Lopez-Bautista was named one of “Asia’s 2021 Heroes of Philanthropy” by the prestigious Forbes Asia magazine for her efforts at helping make quality education accessible to as many Filipino children, especially during this pandemic.

Last year and this year, Rina’s Knowledge Channel provided learners with transformative learning experiences through “School at Home.”

The campaign, which began in March 2020, made available on-air, online and offline thousands of high-quality educational videos for distance learning of pre-kinder, kinder, and grades 1-10 students across the country.

Rina was recognized by Forbes Asia for founding the nonprofit organization, KCFI in 1999 that produces and broadcasts/distributes curriculum-based content for students and teachers and trains and mentors educators.

“Having co-founded the KCFI 22 years ago has opened my eyes and my heart to the plight of disadvantaged Filipinos. Improving the education of Filipino children to provide them with opportunities for a better life has become my passion, ” she shared.

“Despite class disruptions due to COVID-19, PK-10 students never stopped learning from home with the help of Knowledge Channel’s strengthened lineup of content. The videos also helped parents and teachers become better facilitators of their children’s learning,” Bautista said.

KCFI continues to make robust its online presence by regularly conducting online webinars, training programs, and streaming educational shows—all of which were viewed by teachers, students and parents via Knowledge Channel’s official Facebook page, which has nearly 160,000 followers, and its YouTube channel, which recently received a Silver Button award.

Aside from the Forbes Asia magazine honor, KCFI also recently received the Outstanding CSR Project in Education award at the 2021 League of Corporate Foundations CSR Guild Awards for the same “School at Home” campaign.
