“I’m Billie Hakenson. I’m representing Cavite, and I’m a bisexual and I’m proud to be here.”

So candid yet strong, these are the introductory words of Miss Universe Philippines- Cavite in the trailer for the preliminaries of the pageant.

Several pageant fans have been eyeing her as a strong contender because of her fierceness, and for being openly queer. Her relatively short hair compared to the other candidates gets pointed out whenever she posts pictures on her social media.

When asked about what makes her pixie cut hair stand out from the others, she confidently answered, “I’m actually not that afraid to show my tough side. I am not really as feminine as most women. I have this androgynous side and I am confident in showing it off. I love how it jives with my personality, and how actually it’s a big part of me.”

She then further emphasizes her opening statement well and clear by posting an Instagram photo of her in a black dress with the caption, “I know who I am, I know what I can do. I will tell my story as truly as I can and I will enjoy every bit of this journey as I build myself.”
