The Pasay City government made its plastic waste management more fun to entice residents to start recycling.

This, after the city government kicked off its recycling strategy dubbed the “Shoot for a Cause” project for the people of Barangay 113 on Thursday.

The city said it has installed basketball rings with catching nets attached to the garbage cans so that people can enjoy shooting their trashes at the bins.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the project seeks to minimize plastic pollution in the city.

The initiative includes the collection of plastic bottles of mineral water, soft drinks, oil, soy sauce, and other recyclable wastes.

Each village is allowed to sell its collected plastic wastes in junk shops to get extra funds.

“Ibibenta ang mga naipong bote upang maging pondo ng barangay na gagamitin sa pagbili ng materyales sa paggawa ng diswashing liquid na isa ding pinagkukunan ng pondo ng barangay (The collected plastics bottles will be sold to become the barangay’s fund that will be used to purchase materials for the production of dishwashing liquid, which is being source out from the barangay’s fund),” Rubiano said.

Dishwashing liquid making is another part of the city’s livelihood project for the residents.

The city said these projects are part of the priority agenda of the Mayor’s Office on environment and lifestyle.

The “Shoot for Cause” project will soon be expanded to more Pasay villages.

Rubiano urged the residents to contribute to the city government’s environmental campaign and initiatives. (PNA)
