The Philippine National Police (PNP), in collaboration with other government agencies and private groups, has provided basic services and information to villagers here Wednesday.

Major Dennis Ian B. Revillas, Orani police chief, said the activities were part of the project “Duterte Legacy: Barangayanihan Caravan Towards National Recovery”.

Aside from the PNP, other agencies that participated were the Bureau of Fire Prevention (BFP), Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO), Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Municipal Health Office (MHO).

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community of Orani and Mr. Suabe Barbershop also joined in the activity in Barangay Palihan in this town.

The LGBT group headed by its president, Relly Dela Cruz, distributed facemasks. The barbershop led by Sherwin Acuña Castro provided free haircuts to the residents in the village covered court.

The BFP held a lecture regarding fire safety tips.

PESO dealt with timely information on labor market and programs of the Department of Labor and Employment while the DA handed out vegetable seedlings.

The MHO provided comprehensive and primary health care services.

The Orani municipal police station, for its part, conducted a lecture on drug awareness campaign and about Republic Act 9262 or an Act defining violence against women and their children.

Lt. Editha B. Solomon, Orani deputy police chief and an optometrist, led the group in providing free eye check-up to the villagers.

Police also initiated the distribution of 25 food packs to solo parents in the barangay.

“The project was conducted purposely to provide and deliver services of the government and stakeholders through alternative food relief/support to all individuals affected by the global pandemic and to reach out to those in unvisited areas in Orani,” Revillas said in an interview.

“It also aims to provide information to the public about the government’s programs, policies, accomplishments and efforts to bring about real change to the lives of the people by showcasing real stories,” he added.

The chief of police said the activities will be held every second week in every barangay in this town. (PNA)
