Taking into account the welfare of front-liners in Western Visayas, a resolution urging for a fixed daytime schedule of flight operations carrying locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) bound for Iloilo International Airport and Bacolod-Silay City Airport was passed on Monday.

Resolution No. 4219 was passed during the joint meeting of the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) Covid-19 and the Regional Task Force (RTF) on Covid-19.

“The joint Regional IATF and the RTF of Western Visayas requests for a fixed daytime schedule of flights for the locally stranded individuals and returning overseas Filipinos bound for Western Visayas only in support to the receiving capacity of LGU (local government unit) and capability of personnel for response operations within the 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. timeframe,” the resolution said.

The resolution addressed to the National Inter-Agency Task Force cited two major incidents involving front-liners and responders from Sigma, Capiz and Calatrava, Negros Occidental who met an accident while they were on operation during the time of the pandemic.

“There is also a need to look into the welfare of our health workers, other front-liners and responders engaged in managing Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences,” part of the resolution said.

Meanwhile, the regional task force is still following up two resolutions that were submitted to the national task force relative to the request for moratorium on the arrival of ROFs to Sipalay City in Negros Occidental and this city, said Aletha Nogra, spokesperson for the Regional IATF. (PNA)
